Danish realm, outside Schengen
Greenland belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark but is outside the EU and the Schengen Area. Nordic, EU and EEA citizens and most visa-waiver nationals enter with a passport; a Schengen visa must be issued with specific validity for Greenland by a Danish mission, and transit via Copenhagen or Reykjavik still needs Schengen permission.
Danish krone, cards preferred
The currency is the Danish krone with no local notes. Cards work in every hotel, shop and tour office; ATMs exist in Nuuk, Ilulissat and other towns but not in small settlements, where cash still matters.
Tusass mobile, no EU roaming
