Both circulate; prices in dollars are common in hotels and on the Corn Islands. ATMs in cities dispense either currency, but Little Corn has none and Ometepe's are unreliable, so carry cash to the islands.

Prepaid SIMs with data are cheap and sold everywhere; coverage is good in cities and on the Pacific coast, thin on Ometepe's far side and on Little Corn. Assume officials may inspect phones at borders and keep political content off your device.
