Who Lahore is for
History travellers
Lahore is the cultural capital: the Walled City with Wazir Khan mosque and the fort, Badshahi mosque at dusk, the Lahore Museum, Thursday qawwali at shrines and a food street that runs into the small hours. Three days is a minimum.
Travellers with 3–4 days
That window gives Lahore enough room for one anchor area and one contrasting cluster per day.
Mughal monuments
Lahore Fort & Badshahi and Gulberg & MM Alam Road make that interest practical rather than a country-level promise.
Area-led planners
Six fixed clusters make it easier to choose a base and avoid repeated cross-destination transfers.
Maybe not for you: A compressed checklist is the weak version of Lahore. Treat the suggested stay as time on the ground: weather, timed entry, ferries or mountain roads can remove half a day.

Local tips for Lahore
Plan the transfer, not only the distance
Treat the suggested stay as time on the ground: weather, timed entry, ferries or mountain roads can remove half a day.
Apply online before travel
The Pakistan Online Visa System issues an electronic travel authorisation to most tourist passports, currently without a fee; apply at least two weeks ahead and carry the printout. Some districts need a separate No Objection Certificate; Gilgit-Baltistan, Hunza and the Kalash valleys currently do not.
Rupees in cash, cards in cities
ATMs are common in cities and in Gilgit and Skardu but not reliably in the valleys; carry enough cash for a week in the mountains and use cards only at reputable hotels.
Register a SIM with your passport
Jazz and Zong SIMs are sold at airports; SCOM is the operator that works in Gilgit-Baltistan, so buy one in Gilgit or Skardu. Mobile internet is switched off during security events.
Type C and D, 230 V
Round two- and three-pin sockets; a universal adapter covers both. Power cuts are routine, especially in the mountains.
